Construction:
Camera, Nikon Coolpix L810 - with 1080p filming quality which allowed me to film high definition raw footage. It is an easily portable camera with a long battery-life which meant that I could take it with me on a shoot easily and not have to worry about it running out of charge.
Editing; Before I could begin the bulk of the editing, I had to convert my files using Voltaic Converter. By doing so, it meant that I was able to create the compatible file type for working in Final Cut Express. Final Cut Express was used to construct the video. Creative decisions were allowed to happen due to the range of transitions, effects and filters that can be achieved whilst using the program.
Social Media and On-line Consumption (Evaluation and Research):
Twitter has played a role in both my research and evaluation. I used the social media platform as a way to expand my research into the band and their audiences. I browsed through their followers and looked into the sorts of things that they would Tweet and from that gain a sense as to their likes and dislikes. When it came to the evaluation side of my project, I advertised my product through the site and asked for people's opinions of the video that they were to watch. Although people did watch my final music video, there was no responses gained from the series of Tweets I made. Tumblr was also used in a similar way to promote the product, again the video was watched but no responses were given. As I have a relatively large following on both the sites in the grand scheme of things, I thought it best to branch out to the other platforms rather than sticking to Facebook where I might have got some biased responses based upon my relationship with those of whom I interact with on there. As I have no personal interaction with my 'followers' I wasn't worried about the responses I would get as I felt that they would be more honest. On Twitter I reached out to the main fan site of the band along with tagging the band in my tweets to no avail.
Research for album covers and digipaks was also done via the use of online media. I searched the bands name 'Solemn Sun' to see what sort of other bands or music EPs and albums come up alongside the band, From looking at iTunes and Amazon Music, I was able to discover that there was only a few other evident bands that appear when the term 'Solemn Sun' is searched which therefore allowed me to see the competition in terms of the types of album imagery that my digipak would be accompanied by. From doing this on-line research, I was able to adjust my ideas accordingly and create something of which would stand out against the other evident bands artwork but also reflect both the nature of the band Solemn Sun and reflect their music too.
